Orange Spain, also known as Orange España, is a privately owned telecommunications company founded in 1998 and headquartered in Spain. A subsidiary of MASORANGE, it employs approximately 3560 people and generated over $1 billion in revenue in 2024. Orange Spain positions itself as a major competitor in the Spanish telecommunications market and a significant foreign investor in the sector, having invested more than €13 billion in recent years. It also owns Jazztel.
On February 17, 2025, the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos (AEPD) fined Orange Spain €1.2 million for unlawful data processing related to SIM card duplicates. The fine resulted from a failure to verify the identity of an individual who obtained a duplicate SIM card without proper identification, violating the EU's General Data Protection Regulation. Orange Spain also announced a contract with the Toledo city council on an unspecified date to utilize aggregated and anonymized mobile network data for improved tourist management. This data will help measure tourist numbers, allowing the municipality to better adapt infrastructure and services. Separately, Orange Spain deployed a Cell on Wheels (CoW) mobile base station in Valencia from an unspecified date until March 9, 2025, to reinforce mobile coverage during the Las Fallas festival. A member of Orange Spain's Data Governance Team commented on the challenges of data governance within organizations.
