This development follows a significant transaction earlier on October 9, 2026, when David Zaslav, the executive who created Warner Bros Discovery, received approximately $600 million from the sale of the business to Paramount Skydance Corp. The deal, described as an $81 billion takeover by Skydance that closed earlier in the week, created a new entertainment entity by merging proven properties from Paramount and Warner Bros. The newly formed behemoth plans to emphasize continuity across a franchise portfolio including Top Gun, Harry Potter, White Lotus, and SpongeBob SquarePants.
