ParTec, a privately owned company headquartered in Germany, was founded in 1999 and employs approximately 70 individuals, specializing in IT Services and IT Consulting. The company's core activities involve the development and manufacture of modular High-Performance Computing (HPC) systems and Quantum Computers (QC), along with accompanying system software. Its offering also includes consulting and support services across all areas related to the development, construction, and operation of these advanced systems.
ParTec, a high-performance computing specialist, faced a legal setback after a Munich patent court ruled against its patent infringement case involving NVIDIA. The decision, delivered by the Unified Patent Court (UPC) on March 11, found that NVIDIA’s AI systems did not infringe ParTec’s patent. ParTec and its licensing arm BF exaQC subsequently announced plans to appeal the first-instance ruling, contending that NVIDIA’s newer chip designs, such as Blackwell and Vera Rubin, infringe the patent and meet the court's interpretation. Despite the dismissal of the infringement claim, the UPC affirmed the validity of ParTec's European Patent EP 3 743 812 B1, which safeguards technology crucial for AI supercomputers.
