Supermicro, also known as Super Micro Computer, is a publicly owned company headquartered in the US. Founded in 1993, the company employs approximately 3140 individuals. As an IT Solutions provider specializing in computer hardware manufacturing, Supermicro develops environmentally-friendly and energy-saving server, AI, storage, IoT, and switch systems, software, and services, in addition to advanced high-volume motherboard, power, and chassis products.
On February 20, a Fortune article quoted Shawn Cole, President and Founding Partner of Cowen Partners, discussing Supermicro's 14-month CFO search, which highlighted the challenges of hiring finance leaders in the AI infrastructure sector. This extended search follows Supermicro Chairman and CEO Charles Liang's early December 2024 announcement to investors that a special investigation, prompted by the abrupt resignation of audit firm Ernst & Young, found no evidence of fraud or misconduct. Earlier, on February 19, the AI server company announced it is weighing options to build more of its systems in India, aiming to align with government policy and customer demand as it expands its artificial intelligence business in the country.
