As an IT Solutions provider specializing in computer hardware manufacturing, Supermicro develops environmentally-friendly and energy-saving server, AI, storage, IoT, and switch systems, software, and services, in addition to advanced high-volume motherboard, power, and chassis products.
On July 10, 2026, Supermicro collaborated with Red Hat and Everpure to develop a new Kubernetes Edge AI Appliance. This initiative aims to provide resilient and manageable infrastructure for deploying AI applications in environments such as factories and energy facilities, addressing the need for capabilities found in centralized data centers. Previously, on July 9, Supermicro's stock experienced a 29% collapse over the preceding month, a decline that followed a $7 billion equity raise and news of a chip-smuggling probe. Earlier the same day, Taiwanese authorities launched an investigation into an alleged underground network smuggling Supermicro servers equipped with Nvidia’s high-end chips to China. The Keelung District Prosecutors Office conducted two raids and detained six suspects, including a Supermicro sales manager and senior executives of listed company Qyun Technology, in connection with the case.
