The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) is a privately owned men's professional basketball league based in the Philippines. Founded in 1975, it holds the distinction of being Asia's first professional basketball league and the second oldest continuously operating professional basketball league globally. In 2023, the PBA consisted of 12 company-branded franchised teams and employed approximately 50 people. Its primary offering is spectator sports.
The Terrafirma Dyip started the 49th Philippine Cup with a 95-87 win against the Phoenix Super LPG Fuel Masters on Friday, at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium. Head coach Raymund Tiongco attributed the victory to the team's disciplined third quarter. Separately, TNT Tropang Giga, celebrating its 25th anniversary, recently won back-to-back PBA championships. The team will be renamed TNT Tropang 5G, officially launching the new name in the PBA All-Filipino Cup starting April 4.
