Founded in 2021, the organization operates as a sports association composed of clubs and sports corporations that participate in the professional categories of the Spanish women's soccer league, specifically the Women's First Division. It is part of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) but maintains its own legal personality and operational autonomy, similar to its male counterpart, the National Professional Football League (LaLiga).
