The Regina Symphony Orchestra, a privately owned Canadian performing arts organization, was founded in 1908. As of 2023, it employs approximately 40 people and generates less than $25 million in annual revenue. While primarily known for its live performances, the orchestra also offers streaming services.
The Regina Symphony Orchestra (RSO) welcomed Kristy Tucker as Principal Bassoon in 2023. Tucker previously held the same role with the Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra and served as Second Bassoon with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra. She also performs as Principal Bassoon with the Des Moines Metro Opera Orchestra each summer. Concerns were raised regarding proposed cuts to elementary band programs within the Regina Public School Division, prompting a letter expressing worry about the long-term effects of these reductions on students' development and the city's cultural landscape. A concert featuring Ravel’s Mother Goose Suite and Mozart’s Concerto for Flute and Harp, with Marie-Noëlle Berthelet (flute) and Samantha Spurrier (harp) as featured artists, was also announced. Gordon Gerrard shared his belief in the importance of music and its accessibility to everyone.
