Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia, also known as RFDS, is a non-profit organization headquartered in Australia. Founded in 1928, the organization employs approximately 1010 individuals. It functions as an aeromedical retrieval service, providing urgent and emergency medical transport for patients in rural and remote areas of Australia who require transfer to a higher level of care, such as a tertiary referral hospital. The RFDS also delivers primary health care services, including general practice, mental health, and allied health, to remote communities with otherwise limited access to care. The service comprises six autonomous regional organizations and a federation office in Canberra.
