Sahara India Pariwar is a privately owned Indian conglomerate founded in 1978. Its primary business is in broadcast television and radio, although it also operates in diverse sectors such as finance, infrastructure and housing, media and entertainment, healthcare, and hospitality. As of 2020, the company employed approximately 690 people and reported revenues of around $10 million. Its headquarters are located in India.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) alleged on Monday, that Sahara Group assets, acquired from public deposits, were being disposed of clandestinely via cash transactions. A prosecution complaint was filed by the ED against two Sahara Group aides, Jitendra Prasad Verma and Anil Vailaparampil Abraham, for allegedly laundering public deposits through clandestine property deals. This action followed their arrest within 60 days prior, for violating the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). Separately, Sahara Group celebrated two business leaders, Mariah Lucciano-Gabriel and Yetunde Sorinola, being named on the African Energy Chamber’s 2025 “20 Under 40 Energy Women Rising Stars” list. Kola Adesina, Executive Director at Sahara Group, called for stronger collaboration among African nations to prioritize inclusive digital learning.
