SailGP, a privately owned spectator sports organization headquartered in the UK, was founded in 2018. Employing approximately 220 people, the company's primary activity is the operation of the SailGP championship, a series of international sailing events featuring high-performance F50 catamarans.
On March 23rd, the NorthStar Canada SailGP Team led the fleet with 35 points after the first day of the Oracle San Francisco Sail Grand Prix. Driver Giles Scott achieved three podium finishes, including two wins, in the first four fleet races. Later, on an unspecified date, Spain won the Rolex SailGP Championship in San Francisco, defeating Canada and France in the final race. This final followed a seventh fleet race where Australia experienced a wing collapse near the start line. Separately, Mubadala Brazil SailGP Team won the Impact League's first focus area for 2025, "Race to Zero Waste," for their cleanup project on Pombeda Island in Guanabara Bay, Rio. Finally, the ROCKWOOL Racing SailGP Team did not participate in the San Francisco event due to unrepairable damage incurred during the Los Angeles races.
