On September 3, the New Zealand SailGP team confirmed that long-time reserve sailor and shore team manager Finn Henry would depart the Black Foils after their league debut in València. Earlier, on August 23, a new speed record was set at the Rockwool Germany Sail Grand Prix in Sassnitz, where the Black Foils and the Bonds Flying Roos topped the Day 1 points standings in Groups A and B, respectively.
