On September 9, 2026, SCAD's Lucas Theatre will screen "Tony," a film chronicling Anthony Bourdain's early life in 1975, preceding his career as a bestselling author and TV personality. Previously, on September 8, the institution announced a virtual information session for prospective students and parents to explore its degree programs, student life, and discuss admissions, application deadlines, and scholarship opportunities. This followed SCAD Day in Savannah on September 3, an open house event that offered attendees classroom demonstrations in design, business, technology, and STEM fields. Earlier, on August 28, the SCAD Museum of Art's Walter and Linda Evans Center for African American Studies announced designer Tremaine Emory, founder of the "African American sportswear" label Denim Tears, as the 2026 Jacob and Gwendolyn Knight Lawrence Lecturer, recognizing his work that explores Black culture and American history.
