Simyo is a privately owned company headquartered in the Netherlands, managed by KPN. Founded in 2005, it employs approximately 70 individuals and reported $23.5M in revenue as of 2023. The company operates as a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) for telecoms services, managed by KPN in the Netherlands and Orange España in Spain.
Simyo announced on February 1, 2026, that its Prepaid service offers near-immediate activation, with physical SIM cards arriving within three working days and eSIMs available within minutes of an order. Customers can use a temporary number with their Prepaid credit even while awaiting number retention. Previously, on January 28, the company clarified that Sim Only subscriptions cannot be fully paused without payment, though options exist to significantly reduce costs, thereby avoiding the loss of a phone number through cancellation. On the same day, Simyo detailed its Prepaid top-up process, enabling users to recharge via the website or app with iDEAL, for amounts starting at 10 euros, with credit available within five minutes. Earlier, on January 27, Simyo published an article examining generational differences in eSIM adoption, citing IT Insights on the technology's increasing role in the mobile landscape. The company also stated that eSIM technology is technically safer than physical SIM cards, referencing research from GSMA and various security parties, noting that major risks are associated with account misuse and identity fraud rather than the eSIM chip itself.
