On January 29-30, 2025, SINET hosted its 10th annual Scottsdale Risk Executive Workshop, an invitation-only event for 50-60 CISOs and risk executives. Greenberg Traurig Shareholder Jena Valdetero spoke at the event, which focused on the evolving roles of 21st-century CISOs and risk executives. In April 2025, Japanese fiber operator Optage established a direct connection between its closed network and the Sinet academic information network, also directly connecting Sinet to Optage's domestic cloud service, OCCS. A SINET Identity Working Group released “The SINET Risk Executive Handbook on Identity: Managing Identity in the Age of AI” on July 23, 2025. The handbook addresses identity security challenges related to AI adoption. In 2024, a SINET group meeting in Wyoming discussed the impact of AI on enterprise security.
