Stuttgart Media University, also known as Hochschule der Medien, is a non-profit institution headquartered in Germany. Founded in 1903, the university has an estimated 770 employees. The institution functions as a public university sponsored by the state of Baden-Württemberg, specializing in teaching media specialists. Since September 1, 2001, it has integrated the combined expertise of the former Fachhochschule für Druck und Medien (HDM), an educational institution for printing and media technologies, and the Hochschule für Bibliotheks- und Informationswesen (HBI), focusing on library and information sciences.
