Terrestar Solutions is a privately owned company headquartered in Canada. Founded in 2020, the company employs approximately 40 individuals and reported $24.9M in revenue as of 2023. Specializing in telecoms, Terrestar Solutions functions as a mobile satellite operator providing direct-to-device satellite services for smartphones and IoT devices.
On February 18, 2026, Terrestar Solutions emphasized its focus on satellite Internet of Things (IoT) services for Canada, utilizing capacity from an EchoStar geostationary (GEO) satellite and collaborating with Mavenir for terrestrial RAN and core technology. This development marks a re-engagement for the Canadian company, which previously filed for bankruptcy in 2010. This follows the commercial launch of Terrestar’s Hybrid Satellite IoT connectivity service, announced on February 15, 2026, in partnership with Mavenir. Terrestar Solutions, identified as Canada’s sole domestically headquartered and controlled mobile satellite service operator, introduced the platform as Canada’s first hybrid satellite–cellular IoT service built entirely on 3GPP Release 17 standards. It integrates with existing and future mobile networks to support IoT services across Canada's urban, rural, remote, and northern regions. The launch, noted earlier around February 11 and 12, leverages Mavenir's RAN and converged packet core technologies and expands upon Terrestar's Strigo mobile 5G NTN service, establishing a milestone for 3GPP standards-based Non-Terrestrial Network services.
