Terrestar Solutions and Mavenir announced on February 18, 2026, plans to advance satellite IoT services in Canada, utilizing Terrestar's capacity from an EchoStar GEO satellite and Mavenir's terrestrial RAN and core technology. This move follows the commercial launch on February 15, 2026, of Terrestar’s Hybrid Satellite IoT connectivity service, developed in collaboration with Mavenir. This platform, which Terrestar describes as Canada’s first domestically controlled hybrid satellite–cellular IoT platform built entirely on 3GPP Release 17 standards, aims to integrate with existing and future mobile networks to provide resilient IoT services across Canada. Earlier, on February 11 and 12, 2026, Terrestar had announced the launch of this Canada-wide hybrid satellite mobile IoT offering, noting Mavenir’s provision of cloud-native virtualized RAN and converged packet core technologies. The company, known for its Strigo mobile 5G NTN service, is expanding its business model with this new platform. Terrestar had previously filed for bankruptcy in 2010.
