The Arab States Broadcasting Union, also known as ASBU, is a non-profit organization headquartered in Saudi Arabia. Founded in February 1969 in Khartoum and operating with approximately 50 employees, the entity focuses on media production. Functioning as one of the oldest pan-Arab institutions belonging to the League of Arab States system, ASBU's core objective is to strengthen ties and promote cooperation among broadcasters in the Arab States for the purpose of production and content development.
The Academy of the Arab States Broadcasting Union launched its 2026 training season on January 28, scheduling 27 specialized sessions and workshops. Previously, on January 27, the committee for the tenth edition of the Arab Media Excellence Award held its first meeting at the General Secretariat's headquarters, with Ambassador Ahmed Rashid Khatabi in attendance, to discuss "The Arab Media and Artificial Intelligence: Opportunities and Challenges." This followed a working visit by an ASBU delegation, led by Director General Eng. Abdelrahim Suleiman, to the Union of the Comoros from January 18 to 22. During this visit, the delegation engaged with the Comorian Radio and Television Authority (ORTC), an ASBU member. On January 20, Comoros President Ghazali Othmani received Eng. Suleiman at the Presidential Palace, commending ASBU's contributions to developing the Comorian audiovisual media.
