The Arab States Broadcasting Union, also known as ASBU, is a non-profit organization headquartered in Saudi Arabia. Founded in February 1969 in Khartoum and operating with approximately 50 employees, the entity focuses on media production. Functioning as one of the oldest pan-Arab institutions belonging to the League of Arab States system, ASBU's core objective is to strengthen ties and promote cooperation among broadcasters in the Arab States for the purpose of production and content development.
The Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU) unveiled the program for its 26th Arab Radio and Television Festival on September 23, 2026. The festival is scheduled to take place from September 21 to 24, 2026, in Tunis and Hammamet, bringing together Arab broadcasters, media professionals, artists, and technology specialists for four days of exchange, innovation, and creativity. Previously, on September 22, the ASBU Executive Council held its 115th meeting in Hammamet, Tunisia, chaired by Saudi Arabia, represented by ASBU President Mohammed bin Fahad Al-Harthi, with discussions focusing on programmatic exchanges and the utilization of artificial intelligence. The Qatar Media Corporation (QMC) participated in this 115th Executive Council session on September 21, which occurred prior to the festival. ASBU had announced on September 9 that it was preparing to host the 26th edition of the festival under the slogan “Where Image Pulses and Future Echoes,” intending to gather leading figures from the art, media, and audiovisual industries. This slogan was chosen to represent an image capturing the present's vitality and a media landscape looking towards a future shaped by advancing technology and evolving content creation.
