Latin music has historically held an influential commercial and cultural position within the American music industry but was often viewed as a parallel phenomenon. The Academy also revised the Grammy rulebook for the 2027 awards on June 16, notably impacting the Best New Artist category by redefining what it means to be "new" and removing the previous allowance for artists to submit three times.
