The Trump administration is making immigration data harder to find as it pursues ambitious goals to deport 1 million people and achieve zero releases at the U.S.-Mexico border. This developed concurrently with widespread reports on March 15 of extensive airport delays and miles-long security lines at major U.S. airports, including Hartsfield-Jackson, DFW, and O’Hare, attributed to a significant TSA staffing crisis. Earlier on March 15, Senator Markwayne Mullin was scheduled to appear before the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee for his confirmation hearing to become the next Secretary of Homeland Security, following his nomination by President Donald Trump. Additionally, hacked data from the Department of Homeland Security’s technology incubator was revealed on March 15, showing its funding of various companies intended to expand its surveillance capabilities with artificial intelligence.
