News Summary:

On August 24, 2026, UC Santa Barbara attacker Charlie Johnson, the 2025 Big West Freshman of the Year, was named to the seven-man Big West Men's Water Polo Preseason Team. Previously, on August 21, sophomore outside hitter Gabi Martinez earned a selection to the 2026 All-Big West team, standing as the only sophomore among the seven players chosen across the conference and collecting her sixth Big West award. On July 29, Head Softball Coach Jo Evans announced the final addition to the 2027 squad, welcoming University of Utah transfer Rio Mendez. This followed the July 28 announcement by Head Coach Joe Pasternack that the Men's Basketball program signed five transfers and two freshmen, including Jordan Charles, for its 2026-27 roster. Earlier, on July 24, the Women's Water Polo program saw 12 of its student-athletes receive All-Academic distinctions from the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches for their performance during the 2025-26 academic year.
