Previously, O2 Slovakia agreed to acquire UPC Broadband Slovakia from Liberty Global in December 2025. At that time, O2 operated in the mobile segment with 2.37 million active SIM cards and also offered fixed internet and its own O2 TV service. Earlier, on March 12, 2025, UPC Broadband Slovakia reported that it had been named the fastest broadband in the country, according to studies from the global gaming platform Steam and nPerf.
