USA Pickleball, a privately owned entity headquartered in the US, was founded in 2005, employs approximately 140 individuals, and reported $41.5M in revenue as of 2023. The organization functions as the official governing body of pickleball in the United States, established to further the advancement of the sport on a national level. It promotes the growth of pickleball by maintaining its rules, setting player ratings, and advancing the sport.
Independent tests conducted on June 16, 2026, revealed that 40 out of 42 USA Pickleball (USAP)-approved paddles exceeded the organization's own surface roughness certification limits. This finding followed USA Pickleball's quiet delisting of several paddle models from its Approved Paddle List on June 10, citing surface grit as the focus of recent investigations. Despite these delistings, approximately 250 new pickleball paddle models have received USAP certification in 2026. Previously, on May 18, USA Pickleball announced a partnership with Numotion, designating the company as the Title Partner of the USA Pickleball Wheelchair National Championships to advance wheelchair pickleball nationwide. Earlier, on April 27, Phonak US formed an exclusive sponsorship with USA Pickleball for its "Hear to Win" campaign, designed to encourage a proactive approach to hearing health. Also in April, USA Pickleball CFO Keith Helmuth discussed scaling finance and governance strategies amidst the sport's rapid national expansion, which includes over 50% growth.
