VfL Wolfsburg, a privately owned German sports club founded in 1945, is headquartered in Wolfsburg, Lower Saxony. Originating as a multi-sport club for Volkswagen employees, VfL Wolfsburg's primary focus is football, currently competing in the Bundesliga. The club also has departments for badminton, handball, and athletics. Employing approximately 350 people, VfL Wolfsburg's football team achieved a Bundesliga championship in 2008–09, and also won the DFB-Pokal and DFL-Supercup in 2015.
