On June 16, reports highlighted a surge in global piracy and betting, noting that illegal streaming in Vietnam thrived despite crackdowns. This followed news from June 15 that illegal streaming websites broadcasting World Cup games remained rampant in Vietnam, often promoting illegal gambling operators, despite increased efforts by enforcement agencies to take down major piracy syndicates. Authorities noted new imitation sites constantly emerged. On June 14, authorities indicated that new copycat platforms continued to offer unauthorized access to premium sports content; for instance, numerous illegal websites simultaneously streamed a World Cup match between Scotland and Haiti which national broadcaster VTV was legally broadcasting.
