On August 19, 2026, Vivo, in partnership with IDEMIA Secure Transactions, announced a 14-year strategic agreement with SABESP, the water and sanitation company of São Paulo, Brazil, for the deployment of the world’s largest Internet of Things (IoT) connectivity project for smart water management. This initiative, also reported on August 13, aims to securely connect 4.4 million smart water meters across São Paulo City and São José dos Campos. Vivo’s connectivity expertise combined with IDEMIA Secure Transactions’ secure and scalable eSIM IoT technology will enable SABESP to optimize its water distribution network, detect leaks, and enhance an essential public service. Earlier, on August 7, Vivo finalized an Operational Support Systems (OSS) modernization deal with telecom software vendor Amdocs. Under this agreement, Vivo will upgrade to Amdocs’ OSS, align its licensing capacity to support continued customer base growth, and renew services and platform technology.
