News Summary:
Vodafone Spain’s B2B unit, Vodafone Empresas, opened a new Cybersecurity Centre in Madrid on February 18, specifically targeting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). This new facility expands Vodafone's existing network of security centres in Madrid, Barcelona, and Murcia, aiming to make advanced cybersecurity services more accessible to smaller businesses, which reportedly account for seven in ten cyberattacks in Spain. Earlier, on February 11, Vodafone Empresas renewed its unified communications services agreement with social insurance company Asepeyo in a contract valued at EUR 4.4 million over a two-year period with an extension option. The Spanish operator has served as Asepeyo's strategic partner in connectivity, cloud computing, and collaboration since 2022. Previously, on February 3, Vodafone España inaugurated a new Cybersecurity Operations Center in Murcia, specializing in the detection, analysis, and response to cybersecurity incidents. This follows Zegona CEO's indication on January 29 that he is discussing shifting Vodafone Spain’s mobile network to a shared grid with either Telefónica or MásOrange, as part of an aggressive transformation of the mobile network operator since its 2024 buyout. On the same day, Vodafone Spain, with support from the Xunta through AMTEGA, presented a project to expand the mobile phone network in Galicia, aiming to provide coverage and internet to over 210 isolated Galician municipalities.
