Wired faces a defamation lawsuit from Madison Square Garden Entertainment Corp. (MSG), owners of the Sphere, which on July 20 centered on MSG's allegations that Wired's article falsely claims the entertainment company maintains an internal blacklist targeting LGBTQ celebrities. MSG asserts that Wired's story, titled "Madison Square Garden Kept a List of Gay Celebrities," misrepresented its internal databases. This legal action follows MSG's initial lawsuit, filed on July 17, against the tech outlet and writer Noah Shachtman over the published report. The report alleged the venue kept an ongoing database categorizing nearly 100 celebrities as "LGBTQIA." Earlier on July 17, Kevin Kelly, who co-founded Wired in 1993, continued his tenure as Senior Maverick.
