1. FSV Mainz 05 is a privately owned company headquartered in Germany. Founded in 1905, it employs approximately 250 individuals and primarily operates as a professional sports club focused on spectator sports. Also known as 1. Fußball- und Sport-Verein Mainz 05 e. V. or simply Mainz 05, the club plays in the Bundesliga, the top tier of the German football league system, having been promoted ahead of the 2009–10 season. In addition to its football division, Mainz 05 also maintains handball and table tennis departments.
