A1 Telekom Austria

A1 Telekom Austria, also known as A1 Austria, is a privately owned telecommunications company headquartered in Austria. Founded in 1881, its origins trace back to Austria's first GSM mobile network, launched in 1994 as Mobilkom Austria. Initially part of the state-owned Post- und Telegraphenverwaltung, Mobilkom became an independent company in 1996. Following a merger with A1 Telekom Austria Group in 2010, the company now operates under the A1 Telekom Austria name, serving approximately 5.4 million mobile and 2.3 million fixed-line customers. It currently employs 4,130 people.
