Japan recently endorsed Zimbabwe's bid for a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council for the 2027-2028 term, adding to support from China, Russia, India, Cuba, Palestine, the Southern African Development Community, and the African Union. In August 2024, the Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, highlighted the significance of partnerships in enhancing young people's access to quality healthcare across the continent, during a pre-summit visit from international delegates and representatives of various organizations, including the African Union. Also in August 2024, the government congratulated Neal Rijkenberg on his appointment as Chair of the Bureau of the African Union Specialised Technical Committee on Finance, Monetary Affairs, Economic Planning, and Integration. At the 2nd Africa Climate Summit in Addis Ababa, African leaders, development partners, and entrepreneurs indicated a move from planning to implementation of circular economy initiatives, following the African Union's adoption of the Continental Circular Economy Action Plan in July 2025.
