On August 10, 2026, Dan Hogan stepped down as Chairman and from the Board of Directors, with Deputy Chairman Ivan Rapchuk immediately appointed to replace him. This follows Hogan's previous statement on June 18, 2026, regarding the deregistration of Jemsec Investments Pty Ltd, the holding company for the Brisbane Lightning. Earlier, on June 26, 2026, the league welcomed the NSW Government's decision to build a new indoor multi-purpose facility in the Hunter region, intended to replace the Newcastle Entertainment Centre. Previously, on August 1, 2025, the Perth Thunder received a deduction of three competition points for breaching Rule 13.4 of the Competition Regulations in a game against the Newcastle Northstars on April 5, 2025, by fielding an import player without a valid International Transfer Card. On July 2, 2025, the AIHL announced it would stream the final 2025 Melbourne Derby between the Mustangs and the Ice for free on AIHL.TV.
