The Australian Ice Hockey League (AIHL), a privately owned organization founded in 2000, is Australia's premier ice hockey league. Headquartered in Australia and employing approximately 20 people, the AIHL's primary activity is the operation of a spectator sport. As of 2023, the league continues to function.
The AIHL reported a record attendance of 2964 at the AIS Arena on May 31st for a game between the Canberra Brave and the Adelaide Adrenaline. Following this, a Melbourne derby on an unspecified date in week 5 established top spot on the ladder. In week 6, two clubs made significant jumps in the standings after weekend sweeps, with Melbourne consolidating its top position after a 17-goal overtime game on Saturday. The Brisbane Lightning completed a weekend sweep against the Mustangs on July 6th and 7th, winning 5-3 and 9-6 respectively. Finally, the AIHL will stream the sold-out fourth and final Melbourne Derby for 2025 live and free on AIHL.TV on July 4th.
