Autoridad Nacional de los Servicios Publicos, also known as ASEP, is a state-owned entity headquartered in Panama. Founded in 1996, with approximately 200 employees, the entity reported $23.5M in revenue as of 2024. Functioning as the autonomous state regulatory agency, it is responsible for overseeing and controlling the public utility sectors within the Republic of Panama. Originally established on January 29, 1996, under Law 26 as the Ente Regulador de los Servicios Públicos, it was reorganized and renamed ASEP through Decree Law 10 on February 22, 2006, to establish a more agile administrative model. Headquartered specifically in the Albrook district of Panama City, the authority is legally mandated to protect the interests of consumers, ensure service continuity, foster fair market competition, and enforce compliance across licensed utility providers operating nationwide.
