Ministerio de Ciencia, Tecnologia y Telecomunicaciones de Costa Rica, also known as MICITT, is a State Owned entity headquartered in Costa Rica. Founded in 1990, the organization employs approximately 220 individuals. Functioning as a public ministerial department and central government executive branch, MICITT was initially established on June 26, 1990, as the Ministry of Science and Technology. The state body was subsequently restructured and expanded in 2013 via Legislative Act No. 9046 to assume full sectoral authority over national telecommunications, a responsibility previously managed under environmental portfolios. Headquartered in the Zapote district of San José, the institution serves as the administrative authority governing technical advancement under the direct executive oversight of the Presidency of the Republic, supported by a specialized team of policy makers, legal advisors, and scientific experts.
