Founded in 1979, the organization functions as a tier 1 media tech buyer with approximately 30 employees. It specializes in broadcast television and radio. Established in 2010 through the merger of Beijing People's Broadcasting Station, Beijing Television Station, and Beiguang Media, it operates under the direct oversight of the Beijing Municipal People's Government. The corporation manages a multi-platform ecosystem comprising ten primary television channels and over a dozen radio frequencies, anchored by its flagship Beijing Satellite TV. Beyond traditional broadcasting, BRTV operates digital ventures like the "Beijing Time" (Btime) app and the "Listen FM" mobile platform to adapt to modern consumption habits.
