This threat came in response to the proposed 'anchoring' rule, a type of salary cap that would limit clubs' spending to five times the prize money and broadcast revenue paid to the bottom-placed club. On the same day, three of football’s biggest agencies collectively warned the Premier League they would pursue legal proceedings if the controversial proposal was enacted.
