Constantin Film, a privately owned German company founded in 1979, produces and distributes films, videos, and sound recordings. Employing approximately 220 people, it operates as an independent entity within the German media industry.
Constantin Film participated in a series of conversations at the Toronto International Film Festival Industry Conference from September 5-9, 2024, focusing on international film distribution. On November 1, 2025, Leonine Studios will assume exclusive marketing, sales, and distribution of Constantin Film's physical home entertainment products (DVD, Blu-ray, UHD) in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, encompassing both new releases and the back catalog. A long-standing collaboration between Constantin Film and RTL Deutschland, beginning in September 2021, continues with a renewed agreement granting RTL Deutschland exclusive distribution rights for almost all national and international original and co-productions for free-to-air television and the RTL+ streaming platform. A Resident Evil franchise reboot, directed by Zach Cregger, is in development at Sony.
