The Consumer Technology Association (CTA) CEO Gary Shapiro commented on the Trump administration's tariff policies, noting the exclusion of certain consumer tech products was overdue, as these duties harmed consumers and the economy. A webinar, featuring CTA and CivicScience CEO John Dick, addressed how macroeconomic forces, including tariffs, inflation, interest rate fluctuations, and supply chain disruptions, impact consumer behavior and technology adoption. CTA's VP of international trade, Ed Bryztwa, also discussed how tariffs create uncertainty and financial difficulties for companies. Separately, Shapiro contrasted pro-business policies under President Trump with what he characterized as the Biden administration's anti-business stance, emphasizing the importance of reduced regulations and tariffs for economic growth. Finally, CTA reported that over 4500 exhibitors from over 160 countries and regions participated in CES 2025 in Las Vegas.
