Egyptian Football Association, also known as EFA, is a privately owned entity headquartered in Egypt. Founded in 1921, the association operates with approximately 90 employees. Functioning as the governing body of football in Egypt, it has been a member of FIFA since 1923 and a founding member of CAF. The EFA oversees the Egyptian football league system and is responsible for managing both the men's and women's national teams.
On July 8, 2026, the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) approved a contract extension for national team head coach Hossam Hassan and team director Ibrahim Hassan, following Egypt's successful campaign at the World Cup. Previously, on May 21, the EFA announced a 27-player provisional squad for the FIFA World Cup 2026 training camp in Turkey, with coach Hossam Hassan naming key players including Salah, Marmoush, Trezeguet, and Abdelmonem, while notably omitting Mostafa Mohamed. On April 26, the EFA released an official statement regarding Mohamed Salah’s injury, which occurred during Liverpool's 3-1 Premier League victory against Crystal Palace. Earlier, on March 8, the EFA indicated its intention to bid for the 2032 or 2036 Africa Cup of Nations, a move pending state approval and aligning with CAF's shift to a four-year hosting cycle starting in 2028. On January 27, the EFA's Referees Committee, chaired by Oscar Ruiz, announced referee appointments for three matches in the second round of the 16th round of the First Division League "A" (Nile League).
