Privately owned FRITZ!, headquartered in Germany, was founded in 1986 and employs approximately 500 individuals. The company reported $623.2M in revenue as of 2023. It specializes in Wi-Fi and mesh networks, functioning as a manufacturer of products for broadband connections and the digital home.
On February 5, 2026, FRITZ!, formerly AVM, reopened its Fritz lab and released FritzOS 8.24, a new beta firmware for six FritzBox models, targeting users eager to test new functions and optimizations. Previously, on February 4, FRITZ! began selling the Fritz!Box 4630 Wi-Fi 7 fiber router for EUR 169. This router, first introduced at last year's Anga Com trade fair, works with a fiber-optic modem (ONT) to provide speeds of up to 2.5 Gbps, supporting Wi-Fi speeds up to 2880 Mbps in the 5 GHz band and 688 Mbps in the 2.4 GHz band. This follows a final FritzOS update that rolled out on February 3 for the FritzBox 7690 (DSL connection) and FritzBox 5690 (fiber optics), bringing technical and functional improvements to these powerful router models. Earlier, on February 2, the manufacturer expanded its portfolio with the FRITZ!Box 4630, a compact Wi-Fi 7 router designed as an entry-level model for operation on a fiber optic modem to address increasing demands for speed, stability, and latency in home networks.
