On June 8, 2026, GNET reported that violent extremist actors, including Salafi-Jihadists, neo-Nazis, and nihilistic violent extremists (NVE), are increasingly adopting artificial intelligence (AI) for purposes such as translation, propaganda generation, attack planning, and spreading misinformation. The report highlighted that cybercriminals currently drive the most sophisticated and scalable AI-enabled harms, noting an eroding boundary between extremist and cybercriminal activities.
