The Ice Hockey Federation of Russia (FHR) is a privately owned organization headquartered in Russia. Employing approximately 10 people as of 2023, its primary activity is the organization and promotion of ice hockey within Russia. Established as an all-Russian public association, the FHR's purpose is to develop and popularize the sport domestically. It serves as the representative body for Russian ice hockey within international organizations, notably the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF).
The Russian Ice Hockey Federation (RIHF) participated in the "Future of Sporting Federations: Why You Need a Private Managing Partner" discussion at the 2025 Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum. On an unspecified date, the RIHF signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Iranian Ice Hockey Association to develop ice hockey and strengthen international ties, including player, coach, and referee training programs and joint events. The RIHF received the main prize in the "Supermarketing of the Year" nomination in women's team sports at the 2025 MARSPO Awards Ceremony in Moscow. An international training camp for junior Russian national team goalkeepers and defensemen, along with players under 25 from the UAE, Turkey, Iran, and Serbia, began in Novogorsk. Finally, the IIHF Congress raised the issue of Russian national team participation in the 2026 Olympic Games; further consultations between the IIHF, the Russian Olympic Committee, and the RIHF will occur this summer, with a final decision to follow.
