The International Fencing Federation (FIE), a privately owned organization founded in 1913 and headquartered in Switzerland, is the international governing body for the sport of fencing. As of 2023, it employs approximately 110 people. Its primary activity is the organization and oversight of international fencing competitions and related activities.
The International Fencing Federation (FIE) held four World Cups from May 23-25, 2025, in Lima, Madrid, Saint-Maur-des-Fossés, and Wuxi, featuring men's and women's epee and sabre events. Results are available on the FIE website. From May 16-18, 2025, the FIE held a Foil Grand Prix in Shanghai, China, where Martina Favaretto of Italy and Chun Yin Ryan Choi of Hong Kong won gold medals. This event involved 162 women and 212 men at the Songjiang Gymnasium and Guangfulin Relics Park. A separate Epee Grand Prix took place in Bogota, Colombia, from May 9-11, 2025, at the Palacia de los Deportes. Giulia Rizzi of Italy and Akira Komata of Japan won gold medals in this competition, which included 147 women and 189 men. The FIE also allowed athletes from Russia and Belarus to participate in team tournaments as neutral participants.
