JioCinema is an Indian privately owned over-the-top media streaming service headquartered in India. Founded in 2016, the company is owned by Viacom18, a joint venture of Reliance Industries and Paramount Global. It specializes in offering free advertising- and subscription-based video on demand and live streaming content.
On March 10, 2026, the Information and Broadcasting Ministry directed intermediary platform Telegram to remove and disable access to 3142 URL links after finding channels violating the Copyright Act 1957 by streaming content owned or licensed by various content owners, OTT platforms, and producers without authorization. This action followed complaints alleging piracy from entities including JioCinema and Amazon Prime Video. Earlier in March, media consulting firm Ormax reported a broader trend among streaming platforms, including JioCinema, to cut back on original shows made in Indian languages, noting an 18% decline in 2024 and an additional 13% fall in 2025. Previously, on February 3, JioCinema and JioStudios garnered significant attention for the success of Ranveer Singh's film "Dhurandhar," which grossed over Rs 1300 crore at the worldwide box office; the film's success, which further cemented Mukesh Ambani's company in the production market, was attributed in part to Jyoti Deshpande's conviction. This follows news from February 2 that the Indian Super League (ISL) media rights for the 2025–26 season sold to FanCode for ₹8.62 crore, marking a nearly 97 percent reduction from the ₹275 crore per season valuation previously paid by Viacom18, a major player in sports content and a partner to JioCinema.
