Located in the Atlanta metropolitan area, it comprises two campuses in Kennesaw and Marietta, Georgia, encompassing a total of 581 acres. Its founding was facilitated by local bonds and federal funding, coinciding with a period of significant economic growth in Georgia following World War II. The university currently employs approximately 7,140 people.
