Kyoto Broadcasting System, a privately owned company headquartered in Japan, is a tier 1 media tech buyer. Founded in 1951 with approximately 150 employees, the company specializes in broadcast television and radio. Functioning as a commercial broadcasting station, it operates as KBS Kyoto in Kyoto Prefecture and KBS Shiga in Shiga Prefecture. Its radio station serves both Kyoto and Shiga Prefectures as a member of the National Radio Network (NRN), while its television station serves Kyoto Prefecture as a member of the Japanese Association of Independent Television Stations (JAITS). Since April 1, 2005, the company has been broadcasting digital television in ISDB format.
