The Latvian caretaker government will not finalize the deal to acquire shares in Latvijas Mobilais Telefons (LMT) and Tet from Telia during its current term, Economy Minister Viktors Valainis announced on September 2, reporting on his August 31 statement. Valainis indicated that the technocrat government's primary role is to prepare the transaction, not to make such a significant decision. Previously, on August 23, LMT's Head of Public Relations, Valdis Jaliņskis, reported mobile communication disruptions affecting 3% of the operator's customer connections, primarily in Latgale, Zemgale, and eastern Kurzeme, stating the situation was gradually improving. Earlier, on August 7, LMT confirmed its membership in the Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking's (SNS JU) Advisory Group, becoming one of 16 entities tasked with working on 6G implementation, where it will lead two major SNS JU initiatives.
