Latvijas Mobilais Telefons, also known as LMT, is a privately owned company headquartered in Latvia. It is a subsidiary of Telia Company. Founded in 1992, it employs approximately 500 individuals. On February 2, 2026, Latvijas Mobilais Telefons (LMT) and SIA "Tet" selected an international consulting team for the acquisition of their shares from Swedish telecommunications company Telia, with U.S. bank J.P. Morgan leading the process. Previously, on November 7, 2025, LMT and Nokia agreed to jointly develop a 5G-powered tactical communications system for military applications across the Baltic region, a collaboration pairing Nokia’s advanced 5G radio technology with LMT’s experience in defense solutions to deliver a secure, high-capacity network for battlefield operations. Earlier, on July 4, 2025, LMT, Latvia’s largest telecom service provider, selected Ericsson to advance towards a nationwide 5G Standalone deployment. This involved Ericsson modernizing LMT’s cloud infrastructure and replacing legacy communication services and user data management systems with a solution built on service-based architecture.
