Latvijas Mobilais Telefons, also known as LMT, is a privately owned company headquartered in Latvia. It is a subsidiary of Telia Company. Founded in 1992, the company employs approximately 500 individuals and reported $335.0M in revenue as of 2024. LMT operates as a tier 1 media tech buyer. Functioning primarily in telecoms, it holds the distinction of being the first mobile network operator in Latvia.
On August 7, 2026, LMT confirmed its inclusion among 16 entities joining the Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking's (SNS JU) Advisory Group, where it will work on 6G implementation and play a significant role in two major SNS JU initiatives. Previously, on July 21, Salvis Skladovs of LMT Defence discussed the future of warfare, highlighting the role of emerging technologies such as drones, AI, and 5G communications in modern conflict as Europe adapts to a changing security environment. Earlier in July, on the 13th, the Latvian government reportedly engaged with 23 potential investors for the acquisition of Telia's stakes in LMT and telecommunications provider Tet, a transaction considered one of the country's largest corporate deals in over 15 years. Also on July 13, LMT Group and SJSC “Latvijas dzelzceļš” demonstrated private 5G network technologies, marking the first time such a system was used by a railway company in the Baltics. The network operates in test mode to prepare for the Future Railways Mobile Communication System (FRMCS) implementation, which all railway companies must carry out by 2035 under European Union requirements.
