Latvijas Mobilais Telefons, also known as LMT, is a privately owned company headquartered in Latvia. It is a subsidiary of Telia Company. Founded in 1992, the company employs approximately 500 individuals and reported $335.0M in revenue as of 2024. LMT operates as a tier 1 media tech buyer. Functioning primarily in telecoms, it holds the distinction of being the first mobile network operator in Latvia.
Latvian operator LMT confirmed on August 7, 2026, its inclusion as one of 16 entities in the Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking's (SNS JU) Advisory Group, where it will work on 6G implementation and play a significant role in two major SNS JU initiatives. Previously, on July 21, Salvis Skladovs of LMT Defence discussed how emerging technologies, including drones, artificial intelligence, and 5G communications, are redefining modern warfare as Europe adapts to a changing security environment shaped by the war in Ukraine. Earlier in July, the Latvian government was in discussions with 23 potential investors for what it described as one of the country's largest corporate transactions in over 15 years: the acquisition of Telia's stakes in mobile operator LMT and telecommunications provider Tet, as reported by LETA, Latvia’s national news agency, on July 10. Also on July 13, LMT Group demonstrated private 5G network technology for the first time in the Baltic region with SJSC “Latvijas dzelzceļš,” which will be the first railway company in the Baltics to utilize this technology. The network is currently in test mode, preparing for the future Railways Mobile Communication System (FRMCS) implementation required by European Union guidelines for all railway companies by 2035.
