Africa’s hotel industry is experiencing a development surge, with Egypt leading with 45,984 hotel rooms across 185 properties and Morocco securing 10,606 rooms across 75 properties, according to the 2026 Hotel Chain Development Pipelines in Africa report published on March 15, 2026. This growth outpaces Nigeria and positions Egypt and Morocco as key players in continental expansion. Earlier on March 15, the Orlando World Center Marriott, the world’s largest Marriott property, unveiled comprehensive renovations, including a new design for its Grand Ballroom. Previously, on March 14, Accor, Marriott, and Hilton hotels reported full stays in Australia. This surge in occupancy was driven by an influx of international fans from China, the UK, the USA, Japan, and South Korea attending the 2026 AFC Women’s Asian Cup.
