Marriott International, a publicly owned company headquartered in the United States, was founded in 1927. The company employs approximately 213,560 individuals and reported $26.2 billion in revenue as of 2025. Functioning primarily in hospitality, it operates, franchises, and licenses lodging including hotel, residential, and timeshare properties.
Marriott International finalized a deal with CP Group on September 11, 2026, to introduce three new hotels in New Zealand, marking the country debut of its Marriott Hotels and Autograph Collection brands. The agreement will see the flagship Marriott Hotels brand open in Rotorua, with Autograph Collection properties launching in Auckland and Wellington. This expansion follows the ongoing development of a new Ritz-Carlton hotel under Marriott International in Kashi, Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, which is nearing completion. Also on September 11, Marriott deepened its corporate hotel distribution by integrating directly with Spotnana, providing corporate travel buyers real-time access to pricing, availability, and property content from Marriott’s central reservation system for more personalized hotel shopping. Earlier the same day, Marriott International's Chief Development Officer Asia Pacific (excluding China), Gautam Bhandari, highlighted phenomenal growth across the Asia Pacific region, driven by record demand for new hotels in the market.
