Movistar Empresas Colombia, also known as Colombia Telecomunicaciones SA. or COLTEL, is a privately owned telecommunications company founded in 2011 and headquartered in Colombia. A subsidiary of Telefónica, it employs over 5,000 people and generated over $1 billion in revenue in 2023. The company provides mobile, fixed-line, broadband internet, and pay television services to Colombian customers under the Movistar brand.
Movistar Colombia ended 2024 with 1.49 million fiber customers, a 22.1 percent increase year-on-year, adding 270,000 fiber customers during the year. Fiber now comprises 96 percent of its 1.54 million fixed broadband customer base. On January 24, 2025, Movistar Colombia appointed Jaime Akli as the new southern regional manager, tasked with implementing commercial and customer service strategies to expand the company's presence in Valle del Cauca and other departments. Separately, Telefónica completed the sale of its 67.5 percent stake in Movistar Colombia to Millicom for USD 400 million. Furthermore, Movistar Colombia and Tigo Colombia activated a unified mobile access network in Ibagué and Madrid, aiming for nationwide expansion by the end of the year.
