PLDT Inc. and Smart Communications Inc. confirmed on April 3, 2026, their readiness to block access to the online gaming platform Roblox once the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) issues a formal regulatory order. This commitment followed a coordination meeting convened by the NTC, the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC), and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) regarding child safety risks on the platform. Separately, on April 1, First Pacific Co Ltd reported a 10% increase in recurring profit to $740 million for its full year 2025, marking its seventh consecutive year of profit growth, driven by record-high revenues from its entities, including PLDT. The company's turnover increased by 2% to over $10 billion, with net profit rising 10% to $661 million, culminating in a record full-year distribution of 27 Hong Kong cents per share. Previously, on March 31, PLDT and Smart had stated their readiness to restrict Roblox access to reduce online risks to children, after reports of the NTC, DICT, and CICC convening over platform safety concerns.
