The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) published a framework for developing standards and radio interface technologies for the sixth generation of mobile systems (6G). The ITU Radiocommunication Assembly (RA-23) approved the framework, detailed in Recommendation ITU-R M.2160, during a meeting in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. ITU also highlighted the importance of its Radiocommunication Sector (ITU-R) in supporting space research and exploration, including Earth observation and climate monitoring.
