Radiocom, a Romanian state-owned company founded in 1991, provides connectivity and distribution services. Operating under the trade name Societatea Naţională de Radiocomunicaţii SA, the company employs approximately 350 people and focuses on electronic communications, broadcasting, and data transmission. In 2023, its revenue was less than $100 million.
Radiocom, a Flemish company specialising in critical radio communication services, was acquired by Citymesh. The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) published a framework for developing standards and radio interface technologies for the sixth generation of mobile systems (6G). The ITU Radiocommunication Assembly (RA-23) approved the framework, detailed in Recommendation ITU-R M.2160, during a meeting in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. ITU also highlighted the importance of its Radiocommunication Sector (ITU-R) in supporting space research and exploration, including Earth observation and climate monitoring.
